M Boutique Hotel in Argostoli

The study assigns a new use to an existing building in the heart of Argostoli, on the island of Kefalonia. Originally designed to house retail businesses and offices, the building has now been converted into a hotel.

The original façade was kept intact, guiding the new layout around the existing windows and balconies. Finally, the building will host 15 apartments of different sizes, along with retail on the ground floor.

The new interior of the hotel aims to reflect the essence of the island’s vernacular architecture and the broader aesthetic of the Ionian Islands.

Elements such as arches, window symmetry, and locally used materials and colors are incorporated into the design through a different, more contemporary approach.

As a result of the existing facade, each room has a distinct layout and includes custom furniture tailored to fit its specific spatial conditions.

Soft arches are included in the whole design as one of the chosen local features.
